The myth that the Tea Party is all about helping the average joe needs serious debunking. Is it really an astroturf campaign to help big business? Can't believe how economically ignorant Rand Paul is -- "If the mines were dangerous people wouldn't take those jobs, so they must be fine!" http://wvgazette.com/ap/ApTopStories/201008030654

There is no such group as a "Tea Party". There are events called "Tea Parties" at which any lunatic is able to attend and claim to speak for the attendees. Let's be clear on that.
Rand Paul would have been wrong a hundred years ago, but today people are much more mobile and there are many less unattractive jobs than mining. Thus, it's reasonable to conclude that people who take mining jobs are adequately compensated.

Hmm, a Google search for "glenn beck" "tea party" produces 5.7M hits. The first of those is Beck's own site.

Neither Iz's post nor the article she referenced cited compensation levels. Both were about mine safety. And note that the miners endorsed Rand Paul's opponent.
