I caught a couple lines of the Sundance blog about the Four-Eyed Monsters screening in SL. Basically they said it was a very successful experience for them, the filmmaker was interested in hearing from the audience, this was the only venue possible for many people to see the movies, and apparently it gave bigger exposure and held more audience in some cases than even the sundance venues.
Audience: There were 30,00 people in SL while you were doing this. Any idea why you only got 300?
Sundance: You would have to be knowledgable of our schedule. It's like a real-world event. It's marketing, it's awareness, it's getting the word out. SL is the size of Tokyo. On those 10 sims, the maximum capacity would have been 500, so 300 is good capacity.
